Hi-Potential Development for a Global Conglomerate

The story of how Think Talent helped enable deeper self-awareness, the setting of career direction and goals for high potential young leaders of a global conglomerate.

THE SITUATION

A leading global conglomerate with businesses spanning over in the fields of steel, chemicals, automobiles, insurance, and hospitality, etc was looking for help. They needed the alumni of their flagship leadership program to have an improved self-awareness, along with concrete career direction, while developing core skills. The cohort consisted of people who had studied from premier B-schools, had been in the system for 5-7 years, and were already on accelerated growth paths. They were mostly middle managers in key positions in various businesses, with a few participants holding senior roles as well.

SOLUTION

Think Talent worked closely with the key stakeholders in the program to co-create a robust and relevant solution for them. The solution was designed in such a way so as to enable participants to-

  • Develop an improved awareness of their own personality and values
  • Inculcate people management skills along with a view of own development stage on skills and capabilities
  • Start to plan a career path in the organization’s context, in line with their own aspirations, personality, and limitations
  • Plan specific development actions with the help of a coach
  • Learn from each other and help further build a strong alumni network

This cohort of approximately 70 participants was divided into 3 groups

2 groups went through a 3-day non-residential workshop. The workshop used a blend of psychometric tools, self-reflection, role plays, video feedback, art, and personal coaching sessions to give the participants a rich experience. At the end of the three days, each participant went back with a vision of they saw their career and a concrete action plan on how they would move in that direction.

The 3rd group consisted of participants who were unable to attend a physical workshop being in different geographies and time zones. For them, a virtual version of the 3- day program was developed. The virtual program follows the spirit of the physical session, using a combination of virtual learning material, videos, group connect sessions and webinars. The attempt is to ensure the peer interaction that created such a deep learning experience through the physical workshops, is kept intact for this group as well as using collaborative technology tools.

 

OUTCOME

The success of this project has had the client wanting a repeat with new cohorts for the future.
